Is Beatrix Potter World all about the kids? Well, kind of. Most of us never really grow up, so adults too are bound to find something to excite them in the Lake District’s very own magic kingdom.
Whether it’s recalling a childhood spent reading the rather wonderful adventures of Peter Rabbit and his associates, or living in the present and enjoying the excellent home-grown produce in the Beatrix Potter tearooms, there’s something here for everyone.
And this is the one place where those ripping yarns are going to come to life. You’ll find 3D scenes featuring most of the immortal characters, including Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mr Tod, Tommy Brock, and of course, Peter Rabbit himself.
Beatrix Potter World is one theme park which has stayed faithful to its nostaligic and well-loved roots, whilst very firmly moving with the times. There is a 360-degree virtual walk round the Cumbrian countryside, featuring the latest projection technology and spellbinding soundtracks.
Before finally retiring to the aforementioned tearooms, you can amble through Mr McGregor’s greenhouse, and experience the sights and smells of this mythical horticultural Mecca first-hand.
Of course there’s the obligatory gift-shop – you’d be disappointed if there wasn’t – so you can take just a little of Beatrix Potter’s spellbinding imagination back home with you!
Taking of magical kingdoms…there’s no hotel in Windermere better to stay whilst you’re exploring this and the Lake District’s many other attractions than Hillthwaite House, only 15 minutes walk from Beatrix Potter World and probably one of the finest of all Lake District Hotels.
